Why 'Taliesin'?

Pam ydw i'n defnyddio 'Taliesin' fel enw domain? 'Does dim unrhyw gysylltiad o gwbl gyda Frank Lloyd Wright, a does dim diddordeb 'da fi mewn 'Celtic twilight hippy mysticism'. Dau reswm sydd: yn gyntaf, rydw i'n byw ym mhentref Tre-Taliesin ym mhlwyf Llangynfelyn, Ceredigion yn nghanol cefngwlad tawel Gorllewin Cynmru. Fe gafodd y pentref ei enwi oherwydd agosrwydd bedd Taliesin. Gallech dysgu mwy (llawer, llawer mwy) am y pentref a'r plwyf ar wefan Llangynfelyn.

A'r ail reswm? Drwy cyd-ddigwyddiad, Taliesin oedd enw fy niweddar tad-cu, Taliesin Mordecai, (1891-1963), Cymro Cymraeg yn wreiddiol o Sir Forgannwg. Mae tipyn o wybodaeth amdano ar y safle hwn, yn cynnwys sawl lluniau o'i gyfnod yn y Royal Flying Corps yn ystod Ryfel y Byd Cyntaf.

Why use 'Taliesin' for my domain name? Nothing to do with Frank Lloyd Wright or Celtic twilight hippy mysticism - there are actually two reasons: firstly, because I live in the village of Tre-Taliesin (usually just 'Taliesin') in the parish of Llangynfelyn in Ceredigion in the peaceful countryside of mid-Wales. The village itself is named due to its proximity to the grave of the great 6th-century Welsh poet of that name. You can find out a lot more (probably more than you could ever want to know to be honest!) about the village and the parish on the Llangynfelyn website.

And the second reason? By coincidence, Taliesin was the name of my late grandfather, Taliesin Mordecai, (1891-1963), a true Welsh-speaking Welshman, born and bred in Glamorgan. Elsewhere on the site there is a bit of biography about him, including some photos from his time in the Royal Flying Corps during World War 1.
